Should I buy this laptop?

My mates got a packard bell laptop that he wants to sell me for £50. He doesnt know much about it but i know its got a 40gb drive 15" screen and its celeron i think

more info - its celeron 2.8ghz, 192ram. but...

The battery is completely fried. If you unplug it from the wall it goes straight off

Do you need a laptop? It isn't a terrible deal as far as I can tell from the limited information but with no battery you don't exactly have one of the major benefits of a laptop.

would cost around £15 for a new battery on an auction site.

Would it be worth it if i could get it for say £35 or £40 then get a new battery for £15. I have seen 2.8ghz models going for over 100 on the bay. Either put it back on the bay or keep it for games whilst in the front room at home or something
