Hi guys,

As my aircon pusher fan has decided it's going to break (It lasted all of 20,000 miles, awesome!) I may well be needing to remove my bumper at some point in the near future in order to replace it.

Whilst doing this I've given consideration to replacing my stock lower front grlle in the bumper to remove the T-Bar you get on the Sports. Do you guys think:

a) It would look really good, definately do that
b) Whats the difference? Get a life
c) No way, that sucks

My car before:

This M5 has no T-bar:

Try and forget the fact its an M5, I'm not particularly interested in the 'M5 look', it just so happens that no T-Bar is standard on the M5.

Comments?

I agree the T Bar looks better - its down to personal choice at the end of the day though Fox :)

I can't make my mind up - I don't think it makes enough of a difference to be worth the faff if I wasn't already taking the bumper off.. just thought I'd see what public opinion was :p

If you have to remove the bumper anyway, you may as well remove the T-bar. I wouldn't go out of the way to remove it as it isn't a huge in your face thing that needs changing. :)

Without. Not only does it look better, but more airflow for when you fit the FMIC and turbo ;)

Get rid of it, more airflow is good :p

Actually you get less airflow becuase for reasons known only to themselves the Sport grille with Tbar has vents which lead to brake cooling ducts for the front brakes yet the M5 grille without Tbar has these blocked off :p

How rare :/

Can you "unblock" them?

I agree in that I wouldn't simply take the bumper off just to do this job - if its coming off for another job as you've mention it maybe worthwhile. I appreciate it's only a simple and subtle modification but do you think it would affect the resale value? Or are you planning on keeping it for a few years?

Slightly off topic but there's a 3 series BMW round our way without the T Bat you mention Fox - he has however put some sort of wire mesh in place instead which may have looked good if it wasn't oversprayed 2 different colours ;)

I'll see if I can get a picture of it for you :p
