im really into cod4 and im using the logitech mx518. if ordered a steelpad to see if it improves the mouse as iv been just using my desk and its starting to wear. do you guys think it would be worth my while getting a g9? also is the g7 any good im still a bit weary of cordless stuff for gaming

cheers in advance guys

Do you feel that the mouse holds you back? If not then I see no pressing reason to change since you already have a pretty good mouse. Remember a great mouse doesn't make a bad player good but it can make a good player a little bit better.

The G7 is a very good mouse but you will probably struggle to find one anywhere other than via auction or otherwise secondhand sales.

it doesnt really let me down, i just thought i was maybe lacking a bit with these new mice having faster accelaration and higher dpi settings. maybe just wait till the steelpad arrives and see if it makes me happier. what the g7 (cordless) like for gaming anyway

If you can't play with a 518 then there isn't much more you can do apart from accepting you're crap :p

what exactly is acceleration and DPI on a mouse?
I'm just using you're everyday average optical wireless mouse and I dont see how it atall could be holding me back... :S

About a year back my mx510 wore out, I went to a
Razor copperhead (I think, not sure on model name)
MS Intellimouse
Logitech MX1000
and finally a Logitech G5 all in the space of about 2 months, I just could not get on with other mice, your game can drop as well as get better, see if you can try one out in the shop first, a mouse is very subjective how good it is (ok rubbish mice are rubbish mice, but good ones are personal choice). The MX518 is a very nice mouse, you can always try a new one, and a G5 costing £31 here
(I paid around £50) its an easy step from a 518

all the new mice are just gimmicks with their 739432894723974DPI get a microsoft intellmouse explorer 3.0 - 400 DPI, 5 buttons, great right handed shape cant go wrong.

mx revolution, again i don't go infor all the super duper DPI stuff dont even know what mine is, just know its the most comfortable mouse I've ever had and nice buttons/wheels.

Sorry mate, i think after using logitech and razers i dont think id ever buy a microsoft one unless its the habu or possibily a sidewinder one

I think going from a wireless mouse like the 518 to a wired one like the g7 might not be such a good idea. The g7 will be heavier which you may not like coming from the 518.

I had a 510 until recently when it packed in. I went with a g5 rev. 2 to replace it. It's pretty much the same mouse with a few new touches. The body is the same shape, it has all the same buttons but has on the fly dpi changing which is pretty useful.

If you're happy with the 518 then there's not much point changing really, its a good mouse.
