Should I clear CMOS before installing new graphics card?

Quick tech query this one...

About to pop in my new EVGA gfx card...

Been a while since I dropped in a new card - usually I build whole new system from scratch...

When I was a lad it used to be recommended to clear the CMOS b4 installing new card but I can't be bothered messing around with the BIOS today - the EVGA manual does not suggest needing this step or indeed any reset of BIOS.

Does anyone bother with this nowadays?

Thanks.

No need to clear cmos, just remove the old card, install the new one then once in windows reinstall the drivers. Select custom in the menu and click on clean installation and this will remove the old driver.

Do I even need to reset the BIOS to optimised defaults or can I leave all my OC settings alone?

Cheers

Just leave the oc settings in place too. Ive switched cards/taken out for cleaning etc and have never loaded defaults in bios.

Most you will have to do with the bios is possibly update it to a newer firmware but usually you don't need to. Just ensure you uninstall the older drivers for your card first with driver sweeper or something then shutdown remove your old card, pop new one in, boot up and install new drivers then start playing and tweaking with games :)
