Should I convert AC3 to LPCM

hi chaps, my video camera (Canon HF-R16) records audio in AC3 format... my importing software has an option to convert to LPCM, when should I (if ever) opt for this option?

No point. AC3 is a lossy format so converting it to LPCM would just take up more space with no plus side.
