As per title. Currently using a Sidewinder X$ and there's nothing wrong with it but I guess i'm having a bit of an 'upgrade bug'. I've never used a mechanical keyboard though and wonder if it's worth the premium over normal membrane keyboards.

has anyone here got one out of curiosity and wouldn't go back to a normal keyboard?

Thanks.

Definitely. I have a Filco Majestouch with Blue switches and it just feels amazing to type on. I don't see the point in having an expensive PC and then cheap peripherals. You also have the advantage of being able to select the type of switch according to your preference (although that's a bit difficult to do if you've not tried them before, although there are some guides around)

I have the "Razer Black Widow Ultimate" (rly... the names they give this things.. its just a kb ffs). Its a good product, heavy, robust, good action on the keys, good macro and game functions etc. But honestly I still wouldn't recommend it, the positions of the keys is just wrong. I'm not sure who designed the layout, but I suspect they may be double jointed, or alien.

Makes me feel like a computer genius in an early 90's spy movie.

I've been looking for IBM Model M's for that reason, makes me sick to realise now what I once saw a skip full of outside the school and they're now selling for up to about £100 a pop.

Wouldn't mind checking out new style ones though, compared to the buckling spring.

I have to get one now, god damn it! ;)
