Should I get a mechanical keyboard?

IBM Model M

I never realised people like these so much, played original Everquest on one for years and drove my housemates nuts with the constant CLACK CLACK CLACK raiding at 4am ;)

I will have to see if I've still got mine in a cupboard and put it up for sale then!

try before you buy. i upgraded my Logitec G15 "blue version" to Corsair Vengeance k90 and tbh it is no better than the G15, it just looks better and takes less desk space. don't get me wrong the k90 is very nice, but if i am being objective the difference with the G15 is negligible

my 2 cents

I've got one and I yes I would go back to a membrane keyboard if I had to. I use a mechanical at home and a membrane at work. If this one broke I'd just go back to using my G15 I think. One of the more disappointing upgrades I've made over the years.

Typiing is marginally better most of the time but unfortunately all that good work is undone when it does an occasional double press.

Now if may be that a different mech kb would suit me better but I certainly wouldn't regard mechanical keyboards in general as the holy grail. I'd definitely echo try before you buy but unfortunately that isn't overly easy, there simply aren't shops where you can just stroll in and try 5 different mech keyboards in the way that you can say sofas or beds. DSR would be a pain the arse.
