Should I get a rift or vive?

ok so I was a very headset mainly to you on steam.

Does anyone encounter any rift problems on steam?

I like the rift as I love the analog sticks to walk around.

Main games I'd be playing are racers with a steering wheel, or shooters that allow me to use the analog sticks.

But is the rift going to die and will it be a waste of money? Should I just get the vive even without the analog sticks?

I don't think either will die. Rift works perfectly with Steam.
I do think that Oculus Home with its exclusives will eventually die though.
I've owned both Rift and Vive and I think that the Rift is the better device mainly due to the excellent touch controllers. However, room-scale is a bit of a faff to set up as you need so many USB ports and some very long USB extensions.

If you want to do room-scale out of the box with no faff then get the Vive. If you are mainly going to be playing seated or standing games then get the Rift (you can upgrade to room-scale by buying a 3rd sensor).

With the Rift at £400 at the moment with the touch controllers it's a bit of a no-brainer TBH. However, both are excellent and you will not be disappointed with either.

The Rift is excellent. I've had two lol.

Can't comment on the Vive but the Rift price with controllers is very tempting.

The only reason to get a Vive at this point is if you have a very large area for roomscale. For your average space cleared out in your living room, Rift is easily good enough, and if you're into cockpit based games (racing/flight-sim), Rift is the better choice (slightly better regarding SDE/clarity) and lighter.

Thanks people I have ordered the rift :D.

I may buy a vive later on if I like the rift, but I think I'll prefer the rift with the analog stick controllers and I'm more into racing games.

While certain games might have been intended for the Vive, it would be unwise for developers to forgo supporting Oculus, plainly because the new price point will introduce a lot of potential users. Catering solely to an expensive headset intended for enthusiasts is like shooting yourself in the foot!
