Should I get an Asus Matrix 7970?

7970 Matrix are binned chips. But its not just the GPU Core that can hold cards back as we all know.

@ OP what voltage are you using for 1200Mhz Core?

If I've read your first post correctly you haven't tried any core clock between 1200 and 1300Mhz so for all you know the card could be stable at something like 1260mhz...

Anyway if temps are ok and you haven't already messed with the voltages then try a small bump in voltage and test again, seems like a lot less hassle than sending back your current card for another that might not overclock as well for all you know.

I'm not really sure about voltage, one day it's stable at 1.25v (pass 6 consecutive heaven benchmarks) , the other day it crashed and I had to bump the voltage to 1.35v just for peace of mind.

Temp are 63 Celsius on 1.35, VRM temp is 67 Celsius. And yes I haven't tried anything between 1200 and 1300 mhz, gonna attempt 1250 now, and lurking for some matrix benchmark :D

If it was almost stable (as your testing shows) then usually only a small bump in voltage is required for stability, I expect 1.27V would be enough. Jumping straight to 1.35V seems excessive and a tad lazy (sorry if that comes across as harsh)
