Should I go buy a PS3

The logical thing to do at the moment seems to be to wait. If however you have a bit of spare cash, or can get one second hand, why not?
 
had mine a couple of weeks enjoying thus far

RFOM is pretty good I've only played a few hours on it as I've been hooked on F1, as for Sigma I've only played the demo which was OK might pick this up in a few weeks.

EDIT: Yeh thats right... I was a fool and din't realise you had a 360.

I say wait it out. I have a friend who bought one today and wasn't impressed. Said the 360 does what the PS3 does cheaper so whats the point.

Why feel the need to ask for somebody elses opinion when its your opinion that matters, want one?, get it. And if you don't want one, then don't....because friend you will get very few unbiased opinions here, too many undercover trolls with their own agenda. Seriously you would think peeps on these boards own shares for either company....or they are viral marketers for MS or Sony.

And hey I didn't try to influence his decision, I have both consoles since launch and both have their pro's and con's. And as I stated in my post want a ps3, then get one, not sure or don't like it etc then don't.

Enjoy either way and if you don't get it, spoil the missus or spoil somebody else's!, the women folk are a lot less complicated than the consoles/console wars these days...get one of those instead.
 
If you have the money to buy one, you might as well. Sick of these threads tbh, sick of the majority of people (not fanboys *ugh* ) saying hold on and Sony (should I say fanboys?) telling them to shut up.

If the games list for the PS3 suits you, get one. If not, don't. Search on these forums for peoples thoughts on games.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is excellent and definitely worth a purchase as long as you haven't played Ninja Gaiden or Ninja Gaiden Black before. I played the demo and didn't notice anything different, but I suppose when you get something so right the first time you don't need to change much.

I brought my 360 in March this year, and I'd thought about it long before I brought it because I was considering the PS3.
Thoughout having owned a 360 I've always wondered whether or not it was a good idea, but the great selection of games that are comming out for the 360 has made me a lot happier! The only thing that will make me buy a PS3 now is Metal Gear Solid. I've played all of the others hundreds of times, and love them all, so I will miss it dearly...

Anyways, yeah... buy a 360 ;)

The PS3 is currently £325 in some places btw.. if that helps

Personally I'm waiting.

Whilst its not secret here that I don't think much of Sony's Game devision ATM, I still want the console. However, the price just puts me off, and its not like there are any real must have games. Sure resistance is worth a play. But People raved about timesplitters when the PS2 came out, as the only launch game worth having. Yes it was worth a play but 12 months later when Sony brought out some decent games you compare Time splitters with those and you realize it wasn't really that great. (It just stood out from the crowd of gash launch games (BTW I have nothing but praise for TS2)

So as I said I'm waiting as I can not afford to splash out that sort of money on a games console (TBH even if it had a better line up than the 360 it I would still be put off by the price).

I am really surprised by the lack of decent games on the PS3 tbh.
Where are Sony's games? You need games to really sell the console.

I'm of the opinion that because the dreamcast came out before the PS2 and was the superior product, yet SEGA effectively went out of business after the PS2 launch, I think they thought that if they could KO one of the console markets big guns, they would easily be able to out muscle this new upstart console and have been outselling Nintendo for the past 2 generations.

I mean MS has come to the table this generation round with a lot of good quality games and after GRAW came out they had regular releases of improving games. They realized that they had to win over the market. Nintendo knew that in terms of sales (not profit) they were losing out in the home console market and were becoming niche product in the US and EU, they needed to do something to come into the mainstream again. They have done that. Sony have rode the crest of a hugely successful PS2 console and imo they are still backing that in favor of the PS3. I mean FFS the best PS game released after the launch of the PS3 was God of War2 a system seller if ever there was one.
 
Get one certainly, but you dont need to be paying anywhere near the RRP.
Get an imported one or a second hand one these can be had from anywhere between £275 and £350.
My PS3 came from hong kong the same week it was released over here and i paid £330 including postage.
 
I can get a 60gb one delivered for £329.99

I have decided to wait anyway until there are a few more games out for it.

Christmas there will be loads of deals everywhere and lots of games for it, I think thats when Ill get one!!
