Hey All

I currently have a 7800gtx running my Dell 2007wfp at 1680x1050 but its starting to struggle at running things like Need For Speed Carbon at a decent fps (ussually 40fps average).

So I was thinking, would it be worth me buying another 7800gtx (around £100 now) as I read somewhere SLI becomes more effective at higher resolutions.

I might also consider selling my 7800gtx and upgrading to another card but dont want to spend much more than £100 to be honest.

What do you think...

Thanks, Sam

if you have a good enough PSU the money and the need to what stopping you id say go for it you should see a nice increase with the other card.

SLI is good for some games but not for others. Doesn't make a difference in say BF2, but in Company of heroes it does make a difference.

I would do some research on wether SLI will improve the games that YOU play.

Cheers

As long as you dont try and sli 2x8800gtxs with it :D
Not just yet, anyway back on topic, I just read a review and they did exactly what I am thinking of doing, 2 X 7800gtx 's using a Hiper 580W and they say it ran perfectly so it looks like my PSU is upto it.

I'd say go for it. SLI is a gonna be a good boost for you, unless you sell your card and go for a beefier single card. OCUK are selling the x1950xt for about £165 inc vat, which is a bargain for the power and you can probably overclock it. There's arguments for and against both options. I had SLI for about 6 months and if a game didn't appear in the profile list, i made one and it did seem to boost performance. You will see good increases in some games but not quite so good in others.

Mind you, you could sell your current GTX, get 2 7900GS's for sli and clock the hell outta them, that may give a bigger increase that 7800 sli and still cost about the same.

I got better frames in bf2 with 2 gts, however I got an even bigger increase going back to 1 gt and changing from an x2 to a conroe.

Hyper, what res are you running NFS carbon at? I have just got a 2007wfp and it does not seem to offer the correct native res (1680x1050) so destorts it. Is there something that i can change?

Cheers
