Should i go ultrawide

I'm also looking at going UW but waiting to see what is launched at CES. I'd like to go OLED but concerned about burn in risk and the hassle of refreshing the screen every 4 hours.
Ideally I want an IPS miniLED with 180Hz+ refresh rate but there aren't any in UW curved format. Don't like VA at all due to the black smear and poor viewing angles issues.

I've been using oleds for years and not one point have I ran any kind of refresh every 4 hours and I don't have any burn in still.

yeah this issue has been largely solved, that is not to say you cant get burn in but its a lot harder now. The new pixel shift algorithms largely help to mitigate the issue and better organic material chemistry. The bigger problem is loss of brightness over time but the panel somewhat compensate for this with updates, I know Sony was running very aggressive settings on their TV's to preserve their panels but some people were loosing 50% brightness after few years use which was over aggressive. Also you can mitigate it by having non static screen saver on, auto-minimise the task bar, removing all shortcuts from desktop, dark-mode if you want to go extra mile and don't run the monitor on crazy brightness. Most manufacturer of monitors now give 3 year burn in warranty.

I would rather take the burn in risk than go back to LCD or VA panels, also I have had 3 LCD monitors/screens burn in so far so they also burn in. The worst one was the Surface Book 2 which burn in after only 1 year of use just outside the 1 year warranty and Microsoft would not repair it. The best was dell 30" LCD monitor that burned in after 8 years. My sisters apple mac burned in after similar time period, so LCD also burn in eventually, granted not as bad as OLED.
