Just looking for some advice though I am almost certain I know what I'm going to do.
bit of background I lost one of my schools the other month which leaves me on 1 day a week at my other school ( tech support).
This school has been really great and looked after me well and they know the score... they know I cant survive on just them and know I'm looking else where.
The problem I have is technically I have to give 90 days notice though, it can be less if we both agree.so on recent interviews I have been saying a months notice, which would probably be fine.
But now we are getting to the end of the term, if someone offers me a job the school would only have 2/3 weeks to get a replacement sorted as they are off over summer. I know that they have quotes from other service providers to replace me when I do go.
What I dont want to happen is if I get interviews over the next few weeks or over summer for them to say when can you start and me not know. A month in term time is ok but a month over summer is useless as I wouldnt be in and neither would the person sorting out replacement.
So today I am seriously thinking about handing my notice in and saying I will finish at the end of term so you can get sorted and have a new service provider at the start of September. I think this would be best for the school so that they are sorted and not hanging on waiting for me to leave. I think its the honest and honorable thing to do and could work for me if I get job offers. However if I dont get job offers then I have reduced my income (small weekly income).
The school are happy for me to stay but I just want to do whats right.
I am self employed so to an employer I am still working at my company, even though that would mean im not actually doing any paid work.
Thanks
