HELP! should I have interleaving switched back on

Ok play games has become odd, I had interleaving switched off on the line 4 weeks ago & my ping went from 60-80 down to 20-40 which was good until last week when I started to get laggyness in games although ping appeared good.

I have a netgear dg834g router & I've gettin the status box up with all *** info I need some bright person to take a spy at & give me an answer on.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7936 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 27 db 5.5 db
Noise Margin 9 db 24 db

Interleaving back on yes or no?

ISP is BT Btw

Thanx in advance :D

Unless your connection's dropping out a lot, or your getting shedloads of errors, interleaving isn't going to help.
There's nothing that's obviously wrong with those stats, unless the downstream SNR margin's fluctuating downwards a lot.

online gaming has gone all laggy, surfing is a bit naff aswell, this has just startd to get worse but not sure whats caused it

It could be anything, and lots of things that interleaving won't help...

Does the router give any numbers for error counts (including how long the modem's been connected)?

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 376082 392300 0 12999 30098 01:59:12
LAN 100M/Full 403229 391648 0 29539 14159 02:07:53
WLAN 11M/54M 349 0 0 13 0 02:07:43

dont know where tests are for logs and stuff as this has never been an issue before, was a bit sick since going adsl max & *** high pings do I thought interleaving off would be a good idea. Rebooted the rooter a few hrs ago

Sorry to intefeer with your thread but my Sky connection drops a lot which is hella annoying. Do i need to ring Sky and ask them to do something? Interleaving? What do i ask for and will they do it without question?

EDIT: Im also getting 120+ pings in games :)

Cheers!

I had big problems with BT this/last week for speed, downloading from torrents at 5-6k when it used to be 100+k and web surfing like i was back on a 56k modem, tried changing loads of setting on my router to no avail, rebooting etc. In the end i got that brassed off i switched the router off for about 2 days, turned it back on and hey presto back up to 120k from torrent and super speedy web surfing. Why not try turning it off for a couple of days and see what happens (i also found out that i got some jobs done around the house instead of being stuck on the PC all night! :))

ok dug out an old bt 2091 router as my connection died today,

noise ratio on dl went to 3db and *** upload was 5.5

my connection is obviously running but here are the stats from the bt router, rang bt to sort my line.

its dropping out lots now :( now plugged into the test socket as advised by bt line test support...
Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7552 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 27 db 5.5 db
Noise Margin 2 db 24 db

these stats now look really old, back on the netgear as the bt router would not hold the sync

what do U think I should do now?

If you're plugged into the test socket, that SNR margin is abysmal and BT should be increasing your target SNR margin or looking for a fault.

On the other hand, your upstream attenuation value's halved (it hasn't really halved, logarithmic scale and all):

Line Attenuation 26.0 dB 10.5 dB

(1dB in the downstream's less significant)
So something's pretty badly screwed up.

well the connection has gone off again so this time an engineer has been & done all the usual & suggested that I have a lift & shift done at the exchange as this should sort out all line issues I'm having again.

BTW stay away from BT vision its naff!!! :D
