Ok, I posted on here a few weeks ago about my glasses not feeling right, I took them in and it turned out they were made up wrong. Now I said fair enough mistakes can happen and I was told 2-3 weeks and they would be ready.

Now I wasn't happy with this as I need them before I go on my Geology field trip, but the woman said some story about them changing over to Pentax lenses and blah blah lots or reorganisation blah. And that they really wouldnt be ready for 2-3 weeks, so I said fair enough I'll take a chance that they'll come back before I go away.

Well the other day after 2 weeks I guess I got a letter from Specsavers saying I need to ring up to arrange another eye test. So I rang them today and I was told there may have been a problem with the test, wrong prescription etc. etc. and that I would have to arrange a new one. Well I'm getting slightly aggrevated now but need them so I said ok. To which she says and to confirm for you it will be another £18.50.

Now, I can't afford another £18.50 on top of £170, and more to the point I don't feel I should pay, if it is a mistake of specsavers. And now, I just want to cancel the whole damned thing and go to a private optician back home!

What do you think I should do, bearing in mind I have no idea where the nearest CAB is and it's been over 2 weeks since I actually paid for the glasses on my credit card. Can I simply tell them I am incredibly frustrated and unhappy and I would like my money back so I could go to a decent opticians?

And yes, I now know specsavers are bad, but the weird thing is I went to specsavers for 4 years at a smaller branch when I was living at home and they were brilliant :)

Must be the curse of the large, busy, rushed city store :(

hey I am an optometrist and trust me if it's their fault specs were not right then you pay no extra. if worst comes to worst they will refund you money for sight test and specs and you can go elsewhere.
just kick up a big fuss and ask to speak to the director of the store, lastly ask for the head office number.
what area is this if you dont mind me asking?
any queries i'll be back tonight

It's the Manchester area :) I will definitely be speaking to one of the managers today, they promised they would ring me back lol :p I only went along with it as I had to pop out :) Think I'll give them a bell in an hours time.

And yeah, shouldn't have gone to specsavers, but it's annoying how service goes from brilliant at one branch to pap at another :(
