I hope it does not come to this but should I have to get new CPU and Mother board, which ones?

Things it will do, Photoshop as the wife does photography and graphic design, games obviously lol, I play EVE Online, and the odd other game that takes my fancy, I do still love the old c&c games and Diablo 2, Torchlight, supreme commander 2 etc.

Ideas are either

CPU's

Core i5 sandy or ivy?
or
Core i7 sandy or ivy?

Motherboards Z77

Gigabyte UD3

Gigabyte UD5

Asus Sabertooth

MSI GD65

If i dont go with the MSI board I will be using Samsung Green RAM 1600, but if the free ram stops before I make my mind up I will use the samy ram for that too, if I choose that board

Also what PSU will I need?

I have a lot of fans installed on my pc, 3 hdd's and more to come as need more storage space, 2 x MSI GTX460's in SLI

what sort of applications does your better half use for her graphic design.

the i5 ivybridge 3570K should be more than up to the job for most things.

if you can afford it the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H is highly thought so so will be a decent decision.

psu wise decent quality 650-700w should be more than enough, preferably one that has enough pci-e power connections so that you don't have to buy any adapters.

I have a 700w psu but looks like it may be broked, either that or its the cpu?

so i may end up needing to get me the above mentioned items plus a new psu

If your wife does a lot of video recording/rendering/processing etc. for her photography then you're probably looking at the added cost of an i7.

If its just image files. Then i'd say go i5 as it's a fair amount cheaper.

From the savings made you can get a decent PSU if needs be :)

think im going to start with replacing the psu then look at other options, at least the psu will benefit my future mods if and when they happen
