Should I just get a TJ07 new?

Well I've been trying (fruitlessly) for the past two weeks or so to try to get a TJ07 black /w side window used. I've posted in wanted sections and checked numerous sites to sell. However, to no avail.

I wanted the TJ07 as I was planning on putting a quad rad/dual rad in the bottom, pump in the drive bays and watercooling a GTX 580/2500k overclocked on both. I settled on the Tj07 as it looked to be the best case to fit these rads internally. Everything else seemed to involve buying a case and then trying to fit a quad rad in it to make it seem like a TJ07.

Should I just suck it up and buy the TJ07 new? Are there any serious alternatives/contenders? I think I could probably afford it with the powder coating, etc. I just feel odd spending £230 on a case, I could almost get another GTX 580 for that :X.

I bought a TJ07 new - powder coated black with a window and it is a lovely case. I wouldn't get another case if you have your heart set on that one - it is totally worth it in my opinion :)

Meh, I bought an 800D for a dual core setup. Why because I loved the case! I couldn't wait for a second hand one.

You will not regret buying a new case, no damage and everything present.

And that new case smell, yummy.

What made you go for that over the TJ07 or any other cases you considered? The 800D is about the same size, etc but powder coated black inside. I'd have to top mount the radiator which I didn't really want to do as I figured it would be louder and give worse temps (hot air from case)

I loved the look of it and it was a new case out. TJ07 was released before it, well I think anyway.

Turned out the 800D was terrible for air cooling, and the paint chipped easily. Luckily I looked after mine, and never had any of the problems other people had.

Out of the two, I wouldn't even consider the 800D now.

I am currently looking at a new case now,

100% going to be a silverstone, but not decided on the model.

I may go for a TJ07, I love the looks.

But the £300 price tag after powder coating does put me off a bit.

But then the only reason I want a bigger case is so I can CF.

But then £300 would buy an 6950 and a psu to run it lol

That's kind of where I am at the moment... What other models are you considering?

Well it sounds like you are watercooling so doubt they will be of any interest.

But

Ft01 - Ticks all the boxes.
ft02 - Love the looks, same problem with powder coating and window on the wrong side.
TJ07 - Love the looks, problem with powder coating.

Problem = More money.

RV01? you could fit a quad rad externally and another double in the bottem with some mods and a single in the top if you wanted proper over kill lol

but the case is like marmite but its cheap its silverstone and its all black standard

xigmatek elysium, you can fit more rads internally than a tj07 :p

That side panel and the general case looks makes me want to chunder though. Watching a review of it by OC3D now. I could always get it windowless and cut it I guess.

Everything HAS to be internal. I move the case around a bit as I'm at university and I don't trust stuffing a case in the car with a rad on the outside and making a two and a half hour journey home.

You can fit a 520mm rad in an rv02 :p

Mr may why did you make a new account, and I'm like you :p the rv01 is my favourite case I've ever seen :p

I posted a wanted ad in the MM and had a few replies within a couple of days for reasonable prices. I spent ages looking over the MM and other second hand places, but when I posted a wanted ad loads of people came out of the woodwork. If you have your heart set on a TJ07, keep trying. I did the same and when I got mine I was so impressed it is unreal! It is in a different league to modern cases. Can't wait to get mine all together and get it running!

Watching this hour long review on the Elysium I'm starting to warm up to it. Where can you fit 480 rad though, just in the front? 'Cause that would annoy me (just as my double rad in the front of the armor annoyed me) as it limits your 5.25" bays to very few.

EDIT: I just finished watching the Elysium review and it looks like a pretty good case. However, I just got the tape measure out and **** ME. That thing is HUGE it's way to big for me to consider. I thought the TJ07 was going to be big (compared to my armor) and that was only a few cms bigger.

I've had a wanted ad for the past two weeks up. Got one offer but the guy withdrew in the end. Had an ad in my sig as well but nothing. I've even bumped the post loads :(

I've decided I'm going to wait until Sunday. If nothing comes about by then I'm going to just order one new. I have all the hardware sat at the bottom of my bed and it'll be out of date by the time I get this up and running otherwise.

Whats the deference in powder coating and normal painting like car paint(Solvent base & clear coat). Is it that powder coating is more durable?

Powder coating is tougher than paint, but it still can chip like paint. TBH I have found it can chip easier! I think it is baked at a high temp, then left to cool.
