Should I keep my Wii or not?

Not normally the kind of question I would throw open on here, but I genuinly can't make up my mind.

I am completely bored with the Wii and have seen the upcoming titles for about the next year and nothing takes my fancy, but I still think if I get rid of it then something else will come along which is a must have.

I have never really been into Nintendo before the Wii came along (not since SNES anyway) and I thought it was brilliant initially, but I guess the novalty has worn off. Standard console games I would rather play on my PS3 or 360 in HD. I'm not a fan of Mario and Co so no appeal of any titles there.

I have been toying with the idea of selling my import PS3 and getting a UK one so that I have a quiet DVD player (currently using 360 as my standalone DVD player died a short while back) and can buy BD films in the shops rather than importing online, so I was thinking one option may be to trade in against UK PS3. I have had a look on ebay and the Wii is still going for more than I paid initially so thats another option as is Members Market.

oooh I just don't know what to do... any good games which really make good use of the Wiimote on the horizon which look a lot of fun? If I knew of some I may be tempted to keep hold of it.

Part of the problem is that I heard Nintendo were complaining at the GDC as most third party devs have only assigned second or third teir development teams to the Wii. Then a game like Tiger Woods comes out which is blatently a PS2 port with a modded controller method as an after thought and it doesn't leave me with much hope.

I was quite interested to hear that lucasarts were developing a star wars lightsabre game but I can't find any news on that either now.

Thats true, you will get many a lazy 'upgraded' game that uses the wii-mote hopelesly but i suspect many software houses were take by suprise by the Wii's success and will give it the attantion it deserves from now on :)

sell it, like you said you will make either a profit on ebay, or atleast break even so why not? There are no games for it, and the good ones are still 3/4 months away unless they get delayed once again.

If you really want one in a years time, get one then and it will probably be coming with 2/3 games for the same price.

if your noit going to be playing for another year what do you have to loose in sellling it now?

EA have shifted 2 more dev teams over to Wii development.
Capcom have 3 games announced and a couple more they don't want to say anything about.
Ubisoft have their usual collection coming on board.

IGN US Release List
Has a quite a few games missing but much more up to date than the UK one. There are quite a few I want on there. Just no firm dates on any of them.

Like is said in the other thread, there is no surprise that there is a lack of top class titles at the moment. Developers were slow to jump aboard the Wii and it is showing. Things will be vastly different towards the summer and autumn with big Nintendo properties coming as well as some top class 3rd party titles.

If you don't want it, sell it. You can always buy one later. For another PS3 though?!? There are barely enough games to justify 1 let alone 2 ;).

I think with 3 consoles your spoilt for choice Joebob and really if like most working parents theirs only so much free time you have in a week it comes down to your preferrence.

With the launch line up coming for the PS3 and X360 alone thats enough to keep any gamer, gaming for a long time. Of course different if your using it in the living room for all the family, then again the console is aimed at the more casual gamer to start with.

I mentioned at launch that it was a great novelty console and like the Gamecube or indeed the N64 will have some great games but be held back with a catalouge that never has as much choice as other platforms. For me all the fuss over the controller would be something that would become the norm just like rumble, analouge controls or siaxis. Theirs only so many ways it can be implemented.

What about a nice 5.1 system for your room to take adavantage of your other consoles?

Sell it for what you paid for it.

Buy it again later on when it's cheaper and better games are out, that way you don't lose out at all but you need to sell it NOW. From your posts it really is a blindingly obvious decision that you should have made a while ago...

Think I have sorted it. My mate has dug his PS2 out of the cupboard after his second 360 died on him and he went for a refund, I bumped into him in a games store yesterday and was pondering on a PS3 but can't justify the price with not many games being out. I offered him the whole bundle today for £200 (mates rates - he's a very good mate after all) and he's considering it. Best thing is that I will be able to play it when I go around his ;)

Hopefully he will take me up on it as he is a bit game dry at present. He hasn't jumped into the deep end with a HDTV yet either so Wii is probably his best bet.

Good to hear more games coming out, but on reflection I'm not a retro gamer so VC isn't much interest to me and the Wiimote wand waving grabbed my attention, shook it about a for a bit and then dropped it again without looking back.

I wasn't planning on keeping two PS3's... probably gonna sell my Jap one and keep UK - hopefully i can switch my 120GB HDD over to new one without having to reformat but I doubt it.

I think you're right. I barely get enough time to play what I have. In a very short time I went from no games consoles to swimming in them + I have my PC and PSP too... there's only so much one man can handle.

Not too bothered about a decent sound setup at the mo. In an ideal world I would love one but I only usually get time to play games in the eve when my daughter has gone to bed and then we have to keep the volume low'ish so as to not wake her. Thinking about moving later in the year, hopefully in a bigger house I may be able to get one then ;)

Please witness that Joebob and i have conversed in two full posts without arguing and indeed he has actually agreed with comments on my previous post.

This is a special day. :D

It's because we weren't talking about the PS3 or 360 ;)

Anyway I sold it now, so all is well again in the world of me :D
