I'm going to Andorra soon and will need to make large card payments for accommodation etc when there.

Should I ring my bank to let them know this will be happening, as otherwise I am worried they will block they activity as it will look suspicious?

Ah, I'm going to France on Saturday and will also be making large payments for the same thing (and ski hire etc). Cheers for reminding me to ring the bank!

Yes and also take a note of their international number in case you still have issues or your card is lost/stolen.

While you're at it take a photocopy or photo of your passport and any other important documents in case they get lost/stolen.

Well I'll definitely be doing this soon then, cheers.

Will they want details, or just a simple "here's my account, some money will be spent in Andorra, cheers bye"?

They shouldn't need details just notification :)

Actually, they will need basic details like dates, so if the card gets cloned and used after he's left they can spot it.

OP, how are you getting to Andorra? Will you need to use your cards en route? I ask because Andorra Airport (La Seu d'Urgell Airport) is actually in Spain.

Quick phonecall advising so they can put over rides on your account.

I had to do something similar as I had fraud on my account about 2 years ago and the fraudsters used my account for IT related equipment, TV's etc.

So whenever I went to buy the parts for my build - I had to ring them first to advise it was going to be me :)

Natwest do, I did it yesterday.

I don't know why you bothered. I've stuffed a £1600 hotel bill on mine while in Aruba, then another £500 at the dive shop, meals, drinks, take home tat..
Then again in Cozumel a few months ago, same sort of thing.
No issues and to be honest, I prefer it that way. I dont want the hassle of having to tell someone I'm about to spend some of my own money.

So what if one day I read my CC bill and I've had xxx amount removed that wasn't me, it gets reported as fraudulent, fill in a few forms, send them back and if by magic, the numbers re-appear in my account :D

If it's a CC then you're not actually spending your money ;)

It's advised but I never do it any more and never had any issues. Used in eastern Europe, Oz, Far East and Africa without any issues. As said they can still shut it down either way. If it's the first time it's used abroad then definitely ring up though.
