Right FOLKS,

Last message on this as this has been going on for a bit now.

I am still very undecided what to do.

I currently own a MBP 2.16 15" which is reaching 2.5 years old.

I have been thinking whether to get a monitor for it to do my photo work or get a iMac 24" 2.66 to do my photo work.

Choose for me folks

Hmmm Most say iMac, but I must say if I did get a iMac I still plan to keep my MBP for portability all being well.

I just need to be able to witness that the iMac will perform better than my MBP with a external.

I thought I already answered that somewhere... Newer architecture, faster BUS, faster CPU, faster memory. Of course it's going to be quicker.

Hi,

Yeah I know you answered this question but I just wish I can be able to compare to my eyes to know if it worth splashing out on a new system costing 1200. And will I see a different to my eyes doing the photo work with aperture and possible CS4.

Ok so is the 2.66 good then I love get next one 1499 but strtch my budget but will the extra really be worth it knowing me prob upgrade again 2 years time

OK, I stand corrected (that wasn't clear from your post). You'll notice a bigger difference going from your laptop to the first iMac you mentioned than between the two iMac models. Stick with your original plan.

Cheers mate, Sorry for not being clear on what I wanted to know.

So iMac 24" 2.66 here we come :)

Ok,

I have been to the apple store today and have decided on the iMac 2.98 if I get one. As at the moment I have come home with a 24" External Monitor a Samsung T240 to see if I rather get a external than splashing out on a iMac. But I am finding trouble of getting the 2 screen to look the same not sure if this impossible but have started a new thread on this.

But till i know more about what to expect from the external if it not meeting what i like then a iMac 2.98 is in on the list.
