Well, can get a G92 GTS for under £200 including delivery.

I have one of the oroginal GT's with the horrible cooler, and it limits my OC as I can't stand to have the fan very high - anything above 45% is too loud for me.

And even at 45% the temps get into mid 80's after just a few minutes of something like COD4.

So the GTS is faster, and has a better, quiter cooler. Just can't decide whether it is worth it or not.

how much can you sellyou 8800GT for?
if it gets a good price then i say go for it
if it doesnt sell at a good price, don't bother

or you could keep the 200 and put it towards a 9800

Well, see if I get the GTS, I would be selling my GT, so hopefully I could get a good price for it, and then it would obviously not be costing me a whole £200 - jsut the difference. Don't think I will be rushing into the 9800 series. They will be horrifically expensive and the only game that really needs them is Crysis...

Ok, seems the only way this GT is at an acceptable noise level is 35% or lower. Was trying to figure out what was making the noise that was irritating me, adn turns out it was the GT. Back on default, machine just makes nice light hum.

So where the GTS are concerned, what is the noise like? Is there any kind of whining? I know its kind of subjective, but how high can *** fan be set before its audible?

i use an 8800gts 512mb, i keep my fan at 50%, im able to play cod4 with full details, 2xaa @1920x1200, everyone on this forum talks about crysis and hardware needed to run it, its a crap game, buggy as an ants nest, it might look nice on outdoor scenarios but i think its nothing more than a hyped up tech demo

Get an accelero s1 cooler for the GT will improve your overclock and you will have a silent card with an 800 rpm fan 120 mm i am getting 46c full load gaming load is 40c idle is 30-35c.The difference between a gt and gts is so small the cost isn't worth it especially when the s1 is £10-£20 delivered.
here's mine
