Hey guys, so i built my first rig a couple of weeks ago here it is

i5 2500k
MSI P67 A GD65 (Mobo)
Ripjaw X 4GB 1600 Mgz RAM
Akasa Venom CPU cooler
Westen Digital Black 1 TB Harddrive
Pioneer DVD RW +- Drive
EVGA GTX 570 (Factory Superclocked)
Corsair TX 650 PSU
I also put in extra case fans to keep things cool

OK so i'm very happy with my system so far been playing some great games on max setting which is great.

The thing is guys i got the i5 2500k so i would have the option to overclock, do you guys think i should now ?

I game on this system 95% of the time and as i said i'm very happy but i'm just wondering what performance incresses i will get if i do Overclock.

As a gamer will i see better Fraps ? or in game performance ?

The reason i have not Overclocked so far is because this is my first build and i just wanted to make sure every thing is running great and i'm not 100 % sure on how to Overclock but i can research that.

Whats your opinions guys ?

if its performing great now why overclock?only overclock it when you need more speed,

Thats what i'm thinking everything is running smmoth and fast, as i said i game 95% of the time and i guess the only reason i would Overclock at the moment is if i would get better proformance in games like higher fraps ?

Would i see the difference in game if i Overclocked now ?

You might see a performance increase in some games but not all, personally I'd say overclock, if your happy keep it there, if not you get experienced with overclocking the chip for the future and turn the overclock off.

Well, does any of your games go under 60fps average? If not, then you won't notice anything, if yes then you would notice better fps.

I have a very close setup and I must say that there is no reason to OC at the moment if gaming is your thing. Just Oc later on when you actually need it.

Just my two cents:

Venom+2500k=begging to overclock. Seriously, whats the point of having a K cpu+a very good cooler if u leave everything at stock. Overclocking can be a very fun experience. And you have a cpu which overclock like a monster plus a very good cooler which will keep your temps under control. I say go for it, if for whatever the reason you don't like your overclocked cpu you can just go back to stock settings.

if not an issue now, leave it until you see a decrease, then overclock to get that boost!

Its a way of increasing longevity of your system and can be fun - but is very time consuming.

The reason i bought the K cpu and Venom is so that i have the option to Overclock.

I do totally understand your point but i think i'm going to wait a while and mabe it will be like a little upgrade ?

I also need to do some more research on Overclocking to be sure i know what i'm doing.

With overclocking the K series being so stupidly easy it's almost daft not to, just boot into bios and set the multi to 42 if you can't be bothered messing with voltages. Free performance boost!

think of it this way, over time you get used to the speed of your pc so it feels slow (with the addition to windows updates and more and more programs being installed), so you the want to upgrade it to make it quicker, costing money. so.....leave it at stock for a few months until the new computer period is over and it starts to feel laggy, then do a moderate OC, then once that feels slow, go a bit faster. this then gives you time to save money for that new pc that in 12-18months you will want as intel would have released something amazing that everyone MUST have. every few months with a little OC your computer will feel like its had a nice upgrade without you spending a penny.
