I recently found out about the ASrock eXtreme Tuner and it can let me overclock my processor. Should I? Will it be safe to overclock just little? Maybe 4.0GHz?

Your saying you havent OC'd it yet?

4.4ghz is the norm on these chips without touching the voltage (unless the batch yours come from wont handle it).
Dooo eeeettttt :)
Its as simple and changing the multiplier from 34 to 44...literally 1 number change.

So what else do OCUK do to their machines to make it stable above 44?

Just up the voltage a tad (like 0.01, or whatever increments your voltage increases by) until you can run a stress test without fail.

If your not too sure, theres loads of threads on here about OC'ing a 2500k/ 2600k.

Do most of these chips get that far then?
I also see a lot of motherboard which are about £150 and upwards to allow overclocking, is that right? Are they all that price?

Pretty much any p67/ z68 will give you a nice overclock. I just bought the p8p67 pro for £50 and that should be able to max the chip with the right cooling.
The extreme should max it pretty easily.

Answering thread title YES its what the chip is made for and the reason people buy the K version. If your not going to clock it you have just wasted your money
