Hey all,

Would like your opinion please.

I just bought a freezer 64 pro, a 4000+ san diego and an Asrock dual sata2 motherboard, im just wandering whether i should overclock it.
The reason i am having doubts is my memory is cheap PC2100 (133mhz) 2 x 512mb and my PSU is again cheap 450w.

Is there a lot of risk?

Thanks

Jamie

Overclocking CPU's if definately worth it IMO,

What make is the PSU,

and im also sure you could run that ram on a divider :)

I have no idea who made the PSU lol! Bought it cheap because my otherone surged a while ago.

So you think its still worth it? According to Speedfan Temp 1 is 39 temp 2 44 temp 3 39 and core is 37. I just ran 3d mark 30 seconds a go so they might be higher than usual :)

You're asking on a forums called "Overclockers UK" if you should overclock? I think you know the answer you're going to get ;)

The only reason im asking if because cheap PSU's go BANG quite a lot :(

Overclocking your cpu is definately worth it, makes the pc FLY ! :D

lol yeah i definetly want to overclock but im just wandering about the rubbish PSU and Memory :P If it went bang would it affect any other components?

Yep, it could kill everything.

You realy are much better off buying something decent like the Enermax Liberty 500W :)

That ram should be fine, but you will need to run it on a divider ( Lower its speed in the bios so you can raise the FSB without the ram topping out ) i would like someone to confirm that though

The PSU could be dodgy, does it have any details on it? Like the amps on each line and a maker?

As for the RAM, its going to hold you back a lot, so much so that pushing the CPU may not give you huge gains, but pushing the RAM as far as it will go will definately be worth it.

100% correct, you'll need a divider to allow you to push the CPU speed up without taking the RAM too far and becoming unstable.

Cool thanks for your help guys.

The psu was bought at a competitor and its one of their own.
Type "450W ATX Power Supply for AMD, P3 and P4 mainboards 20Pin" into google or yahoo and thats the supply :(

Hmm i clocked it to 2.52ghz with 12x 210 with ram set at 100mhz and ran prime 95 which put one of my temperatures to 51 and the core to 39 (speedfan) that seems pretty high for such a low clock, what do ya reckon?
