Since i got my car back in November its been badgeless & without any of its factory fitted decals.

I actually bought a full set of the decals & the blue ford oval for the boot lid for a total of £46 + P&P but a fair few people have told me it looks better without them.

I'm unsure as to what to do.

Don't know wether to put the lot back on, just put the decals back on the boot with the blue oval, or leave it bare & stick the decal kit on e-bay & try to get a bit of money back?

Opinions?

Here is how it used to be -

Side

Rear (warning, its 1600 x 1200)

And some pics i took this morning of it bare -

and if we're going to be picky, the correct wheels fitted too.

I am after some Capri 280 Brooklands 15" wheels at the moment, its just finding them. No way i'm putting the 13" originals back on, 205/60 x 13 tyre choice is pretty limited.

On the Mytyres site for example i have 4 to choose from in 13" (2 from manufacturers i have never heard of) , whereas there are 87 in the other 15" size.

And i'm sticking with the MK2 grille, as i aint keen on the slotted MK3 one unless its on a black car.

Only thing i'm undecided on still is the decals :).

as for wheels....if you must stray from standard then rather than brooklands style that don't belong on that car,why not look for 2.8 special rims?
as i said it's completely your call, but i do feel the car will look SO much better if it looks as it did when new.

It had 2.8 Special rims & interior to start with when i got it, still have the wheels, and although they looked OK when the car was back together with no bumpers, they just seemed to look out of place once the bumpers were back on for some reason, just looked really small & made the car look really long, just dont think they suit the colour.

/goes looking for an old picture.

How old are you?

I'm 23.

And those bump strips on the doors were a pain in the arse, they used to hold water in, had some nice bubbly paint under them when they came off.

Found an old pic, this was the day i got it home early last year.

no offence meant by this at all mate, but i think you need to decide what look you're going for.if you're not going for the original look then why limit yourself to brooklands wheels as there are more modern designs that can look even better.
if it were me i'd go for the original look as it'll become a real head turner.
if that's not your thing then why not pimp it a little....de-lock it with the old Jag starter solenoid gear, drop it a tad and smack on a set of 18's.

^
not meant in an unsulting manner just incase you feel this is what was intended

lol, dont worry about it, it'd be a boring place if everyone had the same opinions :).

I consider the above to be a bit OTT :D

To "drop it a tad" would mean losing my exhaust on the 1st speed hump i come to :( it already scrapes on half of them as it is.

I dont particularly like modern wheel designs either, and i think anything bigger than 15" is too big for the car, if i was going non ford for wheels it'd be some of these -

Interior aint quite as it left the factory either.

Revolution they are, i quite like some of the compomotive designs but they only do the ones i like in smaller sizes than 15" :( .

If i get a spare hour or so over the next week or two i might throw the old original grille back on and the RS 7 Spoke wheels that came on the car & get some more pics in the same place, just for comparison.

The grille i have is black though.

And benneh, those are the wheels i'm after :D.

Tbh i think the wheels look sexy, i presume theyre 15's?, I really think they would look smart in 16". And as for the grille i would say spend the time to spray it, you wont have any problems matching the colour as the paint is so new, and it's off the car so you can do it at leisure :). Would look smart imo.

Yep, Brooklands wheels are 15", as are the wheels i'm using at the moment, so it would be a straight tyre swap (got a full set of Eagle F1's with 900 or so Miles on them atm)

As for sticking a colour matched MK3 Grille back on, not a chance, i think thats one part ford shoulda left when they went to the MK3.

Sticking 16's on it would leave really thin tyres, would look out of place and i think it would make the ride too harsh and i bet the car would follow every rut in the road :(

Looks great but I think it would look better with badges back on. Or like this with a V8:

X-Pack kit, i'd love to do that in a few years, in fact the more i see of them the more i want to.

/lil edit, bonnet vents are nasty though, and i think kinda pointless in that location unless you need extra cooling for your headlights?? :D

However 90% of the X-Pack's i have seen in person have had the paint on the fibreglass bits go all manky & cracked or simply look rippled, seen a few real nice ones though.

If i was to do anything like that i'd want to have the skills to do it myself, unfortunately i do not therefore it will probably never happen. :(
