Should I replace my liquid in my loop?

The last time I did this was about two years ago. Since then it's been the same liquid going round and round :p

If so, how should I go about it? Is it just a case of doing what I did last time? I removed the tubes from the cpu waterclock and emptied it all out into a bowl. Then I ran some more water through the loop. Then I emptied that out and refilled the loop and that was it.

I believe that Mayhems Pastel coolants can be used for up to 2 years, and that other coolants should be replaced between 6-12 months, but don't quote me on that (I personally think that every 6 months is a bit over-zealous)

When I last drained my loop, I ran some de-ionised water through it until it came out clear, and then filled up with new coolant.

Good luck :)

I would, but I suppose if you can do a visual inspection to confirm that there's nothing growing in there, it's probably ok as-is.

On the other hand, needing to flush and refill your loop is an excellent excuse to upgrade your setup/change the appearance of your PC.

I probably would at this point. Not just to replace coolant but to check hoses and such.

Its awesome you ran the loop for so long without feeling the need to do anything to it! I see my hosing get cloudy on my clear tubing loops and have to change it!

I change my fluid once every year (unless im adding parts to the loop/altering it!).

When doing so I always use the same fluid afterwards (I use mayhems pure pre-mixed stuff) and I always flush the system once between fluid changes. For that I use mayhems h20.

You can always go down halfords and pick up some battery top up which is just dionised water but for me ive always used the mayhems stuff... Bit of a fanboy I guess...

They are a UK based company which offers some of the best coolants available. They also offer some of the best support i have ever seen and go out of their way on this forum to diagnose problems that users have found with fluids. They also offer ranges which is not available by any other brand of coolant manufacturers.

Way i see it, there isnt a reason NOT to be a fanboy ;)

I'd change it if it was me. I got rid of my loop(for now) just the other month, i was kinda shocked to find(this was my first time watercooling)how much it had discoloured the hose. Does this always happen?

On all flexible hosing im afraid. It colours to the same extend but depending on brand, some colour quicker than others. From experience, i always choose Primochill when going with clear hosing, though even they discolour eventually. It is usually due to plasticizers rather than the coolant and can be avoided by switching to coloured tubing or acrylic tubing as it doesn't affect performance is its just discolouration and no material build up.
