should i replace my xbox360 with a core? (E74)

For the Microsoft extended warrenty you should get a form with your console so check your box that it came in.

If you would rather get do it by phone:
0800 587 1102

Did mine over the phone back in febuary as mine was slowly dying (was 11 months old) and it did eventually die a week later. Can't fault them though they picked it up Monday morning and I had it back Wednesday morning. Now my 360 is under warrenty until March 2009 for just £44 :) (much better then the £80 a pop Ive been seeing people paying  ) Yes I did get a refurb like everyone else but Its better then my old one. It runs quieter and cooler and doesnt sound like its chewing my discs to pieces, which the old one did do :p. If it dies out of warrenty in 2009 I should be able to pick a new more reliable version up quite cheaply

I just dont understand why most people just dont extend the warrenty by 2 extra years for £40 instead of moaning when it fails, yes it shouldnt die in the first place but nothings perfect. The PS2 was just as bad for reliability did that stop it from being a great console?

Still don't understand why you just don't take it back, assuming you have the receipt and get it repaired or replaced! You are covered by the sales of goods act.

But you will be saving yourself a fair few bob or at least try?

What's stopping you from just not telling them it's broken, buying the extended warranty for £44 and then claiming that it broke a few days later? Would be cheaper than buying a new core system.

id take it off your hands mate, i got a few broken 360s im trying to play around with, see what exactly the error is etc. i also have a 360 with the e74 error, i did towel method and it worked (by work i mean actually turned on into dashbaord) im thinking that maybe its to do with the soldering and so gona open it up and to a few tricks. i would love to have yours to try a few things etc if you dont want it, vetter than binning it. obviously id pay for the p&p, should be around £10

thanks

ps i would like to know answer to post above, about buying the extended waranty, then saying it broke a few dyas later

Got my new machine today and all working fine so far.

manufactured end of november 2006.

seems slightly quieter and i rather prefer the white tray and eject button over my old chrome one.

So what have you done with the old one?

If it were me, I'd keep hold of it and try to fix it. Loads of tutorials over at Xbox Scene Forums that should help you out. May as well whilst it's out of warrenty.

Yeap i took a punt on a 15 quid heat gun at the weekend, just need to get me to Artic Silver and that'll be me

And you still completely ignored my question... despite quoting a post from someone who also wanted to know. Trying to ignore the fact you just wasted £200 on a new core system?

Movingtables, the competitor name is in that post with the warrenty details in, no mods in these parts though so I guess it doesn't matter :p

movingtables, depending on your location I'll come to your HOUSE and pick up the 360 and throw £20 at your lard-arse face.

Deal?
