Should I RMA my 7950GX2 to BFG? Not fully working in Vista.

Hi all,

I'm annoyed at the fact that my 7950GX2 only has one of its GPUs and 512MB of the 1GB memory working in Vista x64. It's advertised on BFGs website and on its packageing as "Built for Microsoft Vista" but isn't fully functional. Due to no 7 series SLi support being in the current drivers my benchmark scores and average in game FPS have been practically cut in two.

They don't manufacture the card anymore so I'd be happy with either a refund or something of similar performance. Do you think I should give their tech support a call? Its well anoying as I purchased it in September when the prices on it plummeted due to the G80's release.

Chances are, they will tell you that 7 series sli drivers are coming out and to wait for them.

The way i interpret that sticker means it will work under windows vista, nothing about functionality is mentioned at all. So for all you know that sticker could mean single output only, one card active and quarter clock speed, it still works under windows vista.

Two 512mb cards does not mean you have 1GB of memory. Too many retailers and manufacturers were pushing that. It's not the same as system ram where if you have 1GB and you add another 1GB you end up with a toatl of 2GB's.

As said, they'll just tell you to shove it and wait until drivers come out.

Thank Nvidia's excellent coding monkeys for this one my friend.

I've just heard from a thread over at the bit-tech forums that Nvidia intend to implement SLi for the 7 series in their next driver release. I guess that should be by the end of March. Meh, I'll have to bite the bullet until then as BFG's false advertiseing doesn't count under the sale of goods act as they're the manufacturer. Its not my retailer's fault that BFG put Vista logos on their packages. Though by march the G81's should be out, which are gonna be my next upgrade but I'll be going Gainward from now on.
