should i sell 5870 while i can?

oh i am keeping it trust me, like i said, now that im 'more awake' today i realised my mistake. truly awesome card, thats why i'd rather spend the money on another one. couple that with the upcoming(rumor?) 75% increse for crossfire, i think i'll have something special

you wont regret it brother ! xfire is the dogs nads

Why not buy a geforce fx5900! its way better than the lowly 5800 series that your using

The fact he posted "ATI radeon 5870 1gb" in his initial post does mean tongue in cheek humour which the fan boys will love, really isn't needed...

Are you kidding? Modded Oblivion is a hog and doesn't even max out on dual GPU setups 4 years after it's release. Just look at all the bugs they never fixed, glitches left unpatched... that tells you they cashed out before it was done.

Yup. And it still runs better than any other game with equally good graphics =D

It maxes out on my PC easilly.

Guys

I also have a 5870 and was thinking of crossfiring but can I do this with a 5970? If I did would it be limited by the 5870? What do you think? I don't mean to hijack just didn't think it was worth making a new thread.

You can indeed add the 5870 with a 5970 for 5870 trifire :)

If you are usinng eyefinity don't bother yet with more than 2 GPUs as the drivers don't support this ... on a single screen however, tri-fired 5870 is simply awesome but somewhat overkill, didn't stop me though. Now, if someone was selling off their 5870 cheap (in anticipation of Fermi) I might get it myself and go quad :D

Sounds great, I will most likely pick up a 5970 then and add that in to the mix.

The only reason why I am doing this is for FSX, it is the only game (I know its poorly coded also) that actually slows down my machine right now.

I guess at some point I will probably have to go Intel also.

Any recommendations on the best 5970 card? I will probably just get another Sapphire.

Well bad company 2 runs very well at 1920x1200, 4xAA, 4xAF on a 4890 and it looks fairly good.

I am assuming that metro is very porrly coded.

It's a different game that looks better? No way it's poorly coded because I can't run it as high as another game!

Keep it.

Later you can allways Add one more card for crossfire!

Thats why i got the 5970. So when i need more power i can simply throw in a 5870 when they are cheap and have tri fire setup :D

And god i will need it with eyefinity lol

Honestly metro is crap, no destructible environments and crappy looking models, it's stalker with slightly improved visuals but with a massive performance drop, them East Europeans can't code for crap, the game is backed by Nvidia so expect low performance on ATI cards..

System Requirements

Minimum:
Dual core CPU (any Core 2 Duo or better will do)
DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
1GB RAM

Recommended:
Any Quad Core or 3.0+ GHz Dual Core CPU
DirectX 10 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 260 and above)
2GB RAM

Optimum:
Core i7 CPU
NVIDIA DirectX 11 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 480 and 470) Muhaha
As much RAM as possible (8GB+)
Fast HDD or SSD
Enabling 3D Vision Metro 2033 utilizes NVIDIA 3D Vision with compatible cards and hardware. To play in 3D you will require:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 and above recommended
A 120Hz (or above) monitor
NVIDIA 3D Vision kit
Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

so you going to sell your current for a card that might be well as bad if not worst with that game. No one knows how well the GTX480 holds up.....or the GTX470 for the matter. not until released finally.

Nvidia/ATI fanbois can say what they want about fermi fact is it all seems questionable till the day comes, like I said in another thread don't jump to conclusions till you know for sure
