buy a 360?

Ok. So here is the situation. To tell it straight, i am a Sony fanboy(or was - up until they crushed liksang:(). I was never really intrested in the 360 when it came out or even up until now, but recently after seeing GoW in action and the decent deals around on premium packs i am tempted to get one. I was also impressed by the Live system..

My initial plan was to wait for the PS3 but i can't wait so long so a console priced as it is - i would have to wait for around 2 years before it even becomes reasonably affordable to me so i was looking at the 360 as a long stop gap.

To buy the 360 i would have to sell my PSP which i rarely use to play games on at all - last time i played a game on it was in august on a plane, so it is lying around collecting dust. Should i sell it? I think i could get a fair amount for it as it is an original 1.5 fw jap psp.

Will i be disapointed with a 360 graphically? My pc is decent, but i don't do as much gaming as i probably should as a lot of games don't appeal to me..

And the final question...should i buy one now or in january sales :) ?

Thanks guys :D

personally i'd say sell it and get a 360, especially if you are going to do more gaming at home than on the go.

I dont think u will see the full benefit of the PSP until you get a PS3 anyway and i am sure in time there will be good bundles for the both of them. live in the now mate get a 360 and save up to get a PS3/PSP later if you want.

There are some decent deals about i seen game doing a premium with GoW and COD3 (and various other new titles instead) for £320
Or u could get the PGR3 pack which is premium PGR3 + extra controller for 299
plus i think shopto.net give u a discount on your first order.

Come, join the dark side!

With Premiums + 2 games inc GoW for £300, you'd be mad not to. Have you had a bash on one yet? My advice would be to pop into the shops and have a go on a demo pod and see what you think.

I am really tempted guys...I would go have a try on one of them but the best place i can go is croydon where most of the demo consoles don't work or they are occupied by a bunch of chavs etc..

I also forgot to mention that i don't have a decent TV to operate the 360 on. Most of you guys have got nice HD LCD's/plasmas etc but all i got is my 14" CRT in my bedroom and the 32" CRT in the living room(Which i will never get to use). How will it look on such a small 14" screen? I was contemplating getting a new widescreen monitor for my pc(am currently using a 19" dell 7 year old jobby) to use with the 360 but it's either one or the other.. :(

No idea how it will look on a small tv, but given that your psp is just sitting gathering dust you might as well sell it, whether or not you use the money for a 360.

I don't use my PSP at all really.

Games which i like on the 360:

GoW
CoD3
PES6(no german league/edit mode whats up with that  )
Table tennis
WWE Smackdown v raw(PS2 loading times are terrible...)
Halo 3 (when it comes out)
Saints row seems good
Deadrising

There have been the odd issues with SDTVs. For example many people complain that they can't read the text in dead rising.

If I were you I would try and play on at least a computer tft.

Yup, i got a 19" CRT - not flat though. I can't use it though as there is no input port as it the vga cable is built in to the damn monitor :(.

Doesnt matter in the least. With the 360 offical VGA cable, you get a connector to plug the VGA cable that you would normally plug in to your PC's graphic card directly in to the 360 cable. (in other words, the converter is 2 female plugs, so the male plug of the monitor cable AND the 360 VGA cable just plug in to it).

I used to do the exact same thing, I never bothered to remove the VGA cable attached to my old monitor.

the MS VGA cable comes with a gender changer so you can plug the 2 cables together :)

edit bugger beaten to it lol

Sell it and get a DS ;)
Nah, seriously though, you may as well sell it and grab a 360 if you're leaning that way. At worst when the PS3 is released you can use the 360 to offset the weighty price, and in the meantime you get to enjoy a few next-gen titles.

Ahh, so the MS VGA cable solves that then..

I don't really like to make my parents spend money on me on stuff which im only gonna use, but of course when this 7 year old monitor goes bust(feels like it never will) im ordering a 22" ws tft..:)
