Should I sellotape over postage labels?

I am sending a few large letter via Royal Mail. I have printed off the postage labels and sellotaped the edges of them to the packages. Should I also place translucent sellotape over the text, or should it be safe without?

You needed to ask this on an internet forum?. Not to be an arse, but Christ..

I was thinking exactly the same. It's what, about an extra few inches of sellotape per package?

What next? I've just taken a dump and now wondering should i wipe my ass with a folded 6 sheeter or risk poking a finger through and go for a scrunched 4 sheeter.

dont be ******'s mabye he thought the selotape would reflect and the scanner wouldnt be able to read the address, which is sensible if he is gonna post something important.......

They use scanners to read the address on parcels? I always thought things like that were done by hand , mainly because my handwriting is absolutely disgraceful and I've never had problems sending packages :D

It is a combination of both - mail that cannot be effectively scanned is hand-checked.

I believe scanners route mail to regional depots, which are then hand-sorted. If the scanner makes a mistake, it isn't that big of a deal if it ends up at the wrong regional sorting office (not much time is lost rerouting it).

Thank you, this is exactly why I am asking. I usually do sellotape over addresses, however this time I used PayPal's postage stamp printing, which have some crazy barcodes on. I was thinking that if I used sellotape over it, the scanner may be reflected. The other reason is that I am posting quite a few packages, and have limited sellotape...

Then the couple of hundred of letters I send out at work every day must not reach their destination because the plastic viewing window on the envelope is thwarting the scanner.
