Should I shouldn't I?

It's one of those situations, where I have money to spend and I want something primarily for movie watching - either normal DVD playback or HD content. I'm looking at LCD monitors mainly because some of the specs look more promising than some of the more expensive LCD TV's.

I'm looking at spending £500 max, and I am really unsure which screen to get. I'm pretty sure 24" is the popular size to go with, and as most people here can vouch for one of those. So I just would like to know some people's opinions on some of these 24" screens for dvd playback and HD content.

Currently I use a LG194WT which is fine for gaming, but not too hot for dvd playback - I get lots of digital noise and imperfections all over the place, more than what I have seen on my hyundai screen and others.

The Dell 2407WFP is a popular choice, but I'm also considering the BenQ FP241W and maybe the NEC multisync - being AS-IPS.

So... :p

I'd be inclined to look at HDTVs with your budget. Especially if your main interest is movies.

Something like a Hanspree YT08-37E1-000G 37" would be great if you plugged in via vga and ran it at the native res.

If you had to go for a monitor I'd say look at Viewsonic.

I don't think looking at it as a saving is the right way to go. Fact is you want to be watching movies and HD content and you could be doing so on a 32-37" screen.

If movies are your thing then it's hard not too justify a TV as opposed to a smaller TFT.
