Hi guys, should be starting a new build in july is it worth buying vista or should i put xp on my new system the reason why im asking is because in a couple of years time windows 7 should be coming out what should i do guys?:) stick or twist?
 
Yeah go for vista. we have been telling people in work go for xp because you know the how to use it ( old gits) but if you know how to use a computer better than a normal person then defo go for vista.

used it for over a year now and not had 1 problem yet

I agree from personal experience. Vista x86 had nothing but crashes for me and none-stop problems. Vista x64 runs like a dream and not a single problem that I had on x86.
 
using vista 32 here and no probs also using sp1 that but still didn't have any probs really with vista 32 before sp1, going to vista 64 though as ive got 4gb of ram now
 
Use loads of apps/old hardware that don't work in x64 vista? Go xp 32 ( eg. for Peerguardian 2, or for an old sweex webcam).

Otherwise, go Vista X64, I only don't use it coz I can't be arsed to buy a new webcam, get drivers for my joypad/wheel ( if they exist) and coz I use utorrent daily and xp is a just a lil bit better protected ( thx to PG2).

Hey snowdog. PG2 works on my Vista x64. I just disable driver signing when I boot up :)

When I last tried it, it ''booted'' and ''started'' but it never blocked/filtered any IP's.


However, if you can confirm it ''works'', I might move to Vista altogether.

Basically I just have to disable it before I update the cache, then re enable it and Bob's your uncle. I also disable it before I close it down. well thanks again guys i was going to go with Vista 32 but the general concessus seems to be Vista 64 so i would guess that all the 64bit drivers issus have been laid to rest. Vista 64 it is then.
 
If you go with Vista64 and find you have any issues, then FFS dont go back to XP32.

Try to weather out any problems with Vista64 but if you find you cannot hack the problems that come up, download a trial of XP64 and give that a go for a bit.

Once you realise just how slick and fast your PC is with XP64 you will never go back to XP32 thats for sure.
