Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like your opinion on what ISP I should go with? I have been using TALKTALK since they bought out Tiscalli who bought out Nildram.

TALKTALK had me on a business account until 6 months ago when they switched me to a standard unlimited account (Insisting it wouldn't be no different in service etc). I started to get problems with disconnections, low sync speeds, packetloss etc etc. At this time I get @3meg down 1meg up (when it's working correctly). I would like to know which ISP is best for gaming?

I don't live in a cabled part of my town (Hartlepool) and BT have put a shiny new fibre box next to my cabinet but as yet haven't finished working on it. BT say it'll be ready Sept 14. I am not holding my breath as the same site has said it will be live 1.5 years ago and I'm still waiting :(

I have been looking at PlusNet, BT (because moving to fibre might be easier and it might give them an incentive to hurry up finishing it) and Zen Internet.

Any advice would be appreciated

Just to note, the internal tier of package within Talktalk which you are on will in no way affect ADSL disconnections, sync speeds, or usually packet loss.

I am on TalkTalk residential and it is 100% stable. This sounds like a fault somewhere as opposed to an issue with the service provider.

There is a fault with my BT line. I am getting some intermittent crackling during the day and night. I have tried everything with my internal wiring and am unable to find a fault.

I called a BT engineer who came out and checked and clearly heard the fault. They have contacted me since and said the fault should be fixed now. I have been monitoring my line using 17070 Op2 quiet line test and although it's not as regular it is still there. I have told BT and am waiting for a answer.

Switching ISP will not improve your line/speeds if you have a physical line fault..

I would focus your time and efforts on TT tech support (good luck) getting Openreach on the job and fixing your line issue.
