Should I try Arc Raiders?

I know it's a good game & all; I tried the open Beta solo and really enjoyed it.
I've never properly given it a go as I'm worried about it asking too much time from me. I paid full price for BG3 and haven't got into because it takes an hour to "get going" each time.

My mates and I play multiplayer for a few hours once a week - stuff like The Ascent, Helldivers or (mostly) The Finals. They work for us because it's quick in & out fun; lots of value in a few hours, no big deal if we don't play again for two weeks.
Would Arc Raiders fit into this kind of play schedule?

Not really. Takes a good while to get into, and build up a good gun collection etc. Taking out bigger arc can be difficult without getting decent guns.

But you can just jump in a game and play, uf your happy to reach those targets in slow time.

It doesn't ask too much time from you, it's a seasonal thing where people race to unlock everything, and then eventually there's a seasonal reset. But the thing is, it's completely voluntary for those who don't have much time to constantly play. If you enjoyed the server slam you'll enjoy the full game most likely for casual play. There is a learning curve as there is with any game, it's not particularly steep.

I played it for 130 hours at launch and got my moneys worth for sure, today I don't know what the deal is with cheating and with bugs and stuff. It was a real mess and not getting any better when I stopped. There's plenty of regulars whose opinion I trust who are still playing regularly @BUDFORCE who can give you a good idea on the state of the game now.

May go back to it one day.
