Hello fellow overclockers,

I recently upgraded my system and got myself a Gigabyte gaming 5 motherboard along with a 4690k and 8GB 1600mhz ram. Cooling is a H110 with gelid gc compound ( i love this stuff ) im also open to delidding my cpu if you think it would be worth it but for now it's all stock paste under the ihs.

I have overclocked in the past about five or six machines. But never on haswel.

I have my voltage set at 1.22 in the bios and multiplier is 46. In CPUID the voltage goes up to 1.248 at the max this is rock solid stable 24/7

Hyperthreading is still turned on and everything else has actually been left to auto im sure someone will shout at me for that :D!

Now for temperatures

In gaming i chose Arma 3 for this test as it's quite the cpu hog after a 6 hour run with a 10 min gap between for a server restart i never saw my temps above 38

for a synthetic test i chose Aida64 as i have been seeing quite a bit of negativity surrounding prime95 and the life of cpus.

below are the max temperatures of the different core temperatures

10 minutes Core 0 49c/ Core 1 51c/ Core 2 50c/ Core 3 47c
20 minutes Core 0 50c/ Core 1 52c/ Core 2 50c/ Core 3 47c
30 minutes Core 0 50c/ Core 1 52c/ Core 2 51c/ Core 3 48c
40 minutes Core 0 50c/ Core 1 52c/ Core 2 51c/ Core 3 48c
50 minutes Core 0 50c/ Core 1 52c/ Core 2 51c/ Core 3 48c
60 minutes Core 0 50c/ Core 1 52c/ Core 2 51c/ Core 3 48c

What do you guy's think should i try to push this a little further?

and how would you suggest

Thanks

Harry

I'd leave it at that, 4.6 is a nice clock over stock already. It's up to you really, you will get increased temps of course if you go further but I'd now try to lower the voltage on that 4.6 clock to reduce temps further if possible (while staying stable) and calling it a day

Trying now with 1.2V instead of 1.22

Edit : ive also turned off the integrated graphics, not sure if that helps with temps much?

EDIT 2 : It's not stable at 1.20 or 1.21 Crashes after 8-20 mins depending on what setting!
