hi after a bit of info at the min i have a z77 mobo asrock extrem 6 with a 3770k i7 as z77 is no more should i upgrade and if so to what

am looking for the same sort of performance just with a up to date socket and chip

i am water cooled so would also mean changing cpu block as it is a 1155
kind regards

thanks in advance

No, there is no point.

Overclock your chip instead and save your money.

If you have no SSD, get a Samsung 850 EVO/PRO, or similar. And see true performance gains.

Devil's Canyon would not be worth it. Socket 2011, is too expensive.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

You would just be wasting your money. Haswell was only a 5% performance increase over Ivybridge so you have nothing to gain. As already suggested, overclock your cpu for some free performance, especially as you are water cooled. You should hit at least 4.2-4.5Ghz.

As far as block compatibility goes, socket 1150/1155/1156 all have the same socket spacing so a cooler/block that fit's one will fit all. Depending on your block you may also have some extra fittings in the box for other sockets.

Im in agreement with the guys above, i made the switch from a 3770k to a 4770k. Not a very wise move tbh.
