Should I update BIOS

Hi,

theres a new bios update,

  1. Checksum: 1C40
  2. Update AM4 AGESA ComboV2 1.2.0.11
  3. Fix AMD Athlon and Ryzen processor vulnerabilities
Is it worth updating?

David
How old is your current Bios?, I used to upgrade every time in early days of x570 when it was maturing, then settled on one around 2023, I recently updated to the latest one prior to this for better Ram stability with a newer 32gb kit and it helped with my overclocks and fixed my problem, however I was wary of USB disconnect bug as used to hear this all the time with newer Bios (Gigabyte x570). Straight away USB disconnect bug still not solved on a bios from Oct 2025, infuriating, however disabling Global C-states prevents this but still annoying.

I will probably try this new Bios when i can be bothered to setup my Ram timings/CO settings again. Not sure what benefits the latest AGESA brings this late into x570 life though.

The latest one is F41a. If you see a small letter at the end of Gigabyte bioses that means they're a beta bios. Those are the ones you should definitely avoid, especially if everything is working fine. As you're on 40 just stick with that and only think of updating when it's only a number, likely 41 next.

On AMD I generally always go to the latest (stable) bios due to the Agesa updates.

I never update unless I have to. Last time I went from my working bios to the latest, it decided to lock my gpu at x4 speed. Had to go back to fix it.

Never had issues updating BIOS, or issues post update

Only problem is random primary BIOS was corrupted on gigabyte dual BIOS board, where switched to backup to reflash primary
