Should I update or start a new build?

Good afternoon all,

I'm really hoping someone can help me out.

I built a custom PC back in early 2016 with the total cost coming to around £700-£800.

I'm now looking into either upgrading or replacing the PC, but in honesty, I have disconnected myself from the PC building industry/community, so I have no clue where to start. I use high processing architectural programs such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, and love gaming.

Based on my current PC build below, do you guys think I should just upgrade or should I start a new build, and what parts do you recommened? I'm thinking about spending circa £1000 to upgrade/build, or is that unrealistic?

CPU
Intel i5 4460 Quad Core 3.2GHz 6MB Cache

Liquid Cooler
Corsair CW-9060028-WW 120mm Hydro Series H45

GPU
MSI AMD R9 390 8GB

RAM
HyperX Fury Series 8GB x 2

Motherboard
MSI Z97 PC Mate

SSD
Crucial BX100 250GB

Hard Drive
Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 1TB 3.5inch

Power
Corsair Builder Series CX600W

Hello,

You can take these things now. Keep the Graphics card, the power supply and the CPU cooler:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,009.42 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Would change PSU as one of the first parts.
despite of brand in sticker that CX600 wasn't designed to last very long in heavier use.

Agreed with this.

OP:
the new range of Intel parts are going to be hella expensive so don’t bet on budget/value orientated gamers getting DDR5 and a very expensive motherboard to go with it.
