Should I upgrade my 2070s > 4070ti or wait for next cards?

not sure whether its worth getting the best bang for the buck would actually be waiting for the next Nvidia card to come out or is this is worth it,

I know it's 2x the performance but the price seems a little high?

I have 3440x1440 100fps gsync monitor, and a 4k 55inch OLED Sony TV with VRR I'd also like to game on but can't as 2070s has no 2.1hdmi only dp will go above 60hz on this card also it wouldn't ever see more than 30 fps on ultra with this card at 4k anyway

my CPU is 5800x3d and I have 32gb ram on a x370 K7 board

thanks!

By the sounds of it you could probably do with a GPU upgrade, but I wouldn't recommend for 4070Ti. It's just simply too expensive for what it is. I'd either look at something 2nd hand (3080/3090, 6800xt/6900xt) or wait and see what happens with future releases.
I'd love to go second hand only problem is if something goes wrong with a electrical product at this kinda price range I'm stuck. With fleebay anyway.

See ee ex might be a better option but you have no idea if there is a underlining issue or if its been mined

everything else I'd go 2nd hand for just GPU's are the one part that put me on edge about it

If you don't want to buy used than a 4070Ti gives 15-20% more performance for about 20-25% more cost over a 3080 or 6900xt new.

I'm not sure I can personally recommend anything outside of the used market at the moment apart from maybe a 6900xt. Previous gen products are still expensive for what they offer. New products are priced ridiculously high.
I'm seeing 3080 and 4070ti brand new at the same price? am i missing something here

I don't get it, for £800 seems like a really good card. last year id be paying 2k for this performance?

I've got a 2070 super, it's old and I'm not hitting cap fps in any of my games on ultra at 3440x1440 95hz now.

I really do want a new gpu, I'm willing to fork out some savings on one if in 4-5 months time nothing else changes...

I'd ideally like to spend £600 max though so this is what is putting me off,

what I don't want to do is buy this 4070ti and a few months down the line found I've been shafted with a price drop or a new card?

Do we think this may happen?

The 2k asking price for the 3090ti was a total rip off during the height of the mining gpu drought. Unless you needed that card for work related purposes it made no sense at all in a world where the MSRP for a 3080 was £650. I would argue that it is not a good idea to judge the value proposition of a current product vs a terribly priced rip off product from a previous generation.

Price drops. Nvidia kept the entire Turing generation at a high price and did not offer good value until the 3000 series came out. The poor sales for the Turing cards did not make them drop prices but then they did not have competition at the high end with AMD openly admiting the 5700xt was not up to scratch.
What this means for the current 4000 cards we do not know but I do not think we will see any price drops until the full product stack has been released. They have pushed the higher end cards price up to leave room for the lower end cards like the 4070 and 4060 to slot into higher price points. Once the 4070/4060 have been released then if sales are still very poor it is likely we will see price drops.

AMD have in the past 6 months shown that they are willing to drop prices to help shift the 6900/6800 cards. I think they are far more likely to drop prices before Nv do. This is dependent on how much silicon they have ordered from TSMC , if they can sell the chips they have in the pipeline at the current price they will not drop the price.

How much cards drop is also not known. If 4070ti is currently £800 is it really come down to £600 ? I think it should but the 3080 has not dropped in 2 years and is now practically eol. It may drop to £700 but sales would have to be catastrophic to go below that imo.
thanks for the info mate really shed some light, still unsure on what to do.

The new case i want comes out in 2 months time so maybe I'll see what the crack is when i get the case and if its dropped or something else comes out I may swing my wallet out
