Should I upgrade my GPU + Monitor?

Hello,

Just a simple question really, I'm not one for upgrading parts all the time and the kit I've got has lasted me great. I'm not particularly unhappy with my setup but then again I've never seen what I could have. So just a simple question, is it worth me upgrading my GPU and monitor, and if so what to?

Current setup:

MSI 7950 @ 960 MHz
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM

i5 3570K @ 4.40GHz
Gigabyte Z77-D3H
Alpenfohn K2 CPU Cooler
8GB DDR3 1600MHz 11-11-28 Samsung Green
Intel 335 180GB
Seagate 500GB
Corsair RM650
Antec 300

My basic understanding of GPUs and what's around at the moment suggests a RX 480 or 1070, what monitor might go with these - assuming my current monitor isn't good enough or wouldn't show off what these cards could do? The only thing I'd add is my current setup is very quiet and I'd be looking to try and keep it that way if possible.

Main gaming use is FPS, Counter Strike etc

Is it worth waiting for Vega? Would you wait for a range of monitors up and coming assuming something great is on the horizon?

I've not got a fixed budget so I suppose I'm looking for the best bang for buck and nothing that's silly money.

Cheers

I would grab another 8 gb of samsung green, do you have the aceess to the members market ?

Wait for Vega if you can but if not then a 1070 and a 1440p monitor would be a good upgrade.

I would get the GTX 1070 over the RX 480 - great card for the money and 1440p gaming on ULTRA with tweaks in most games.

Monitor - there's a plethora of choices out there. 100/144Ghz monitors, ultra wide, IPS, TN, etc etc... (YOu may want to do a separate post in the monitor forum)

I've always bought DELL ULtrasharps - I have the a 25 and 27 inched version. I use my machine for work and play though - and I love the DELL after sales warranty and the way it works (but I've not had to use it years and years). I moved from the 22" to the 25" and then loved that so much I bought the 27" - the 1440p res is really impressive and you have experience of how good the panles are.

Your monitor - if it does the job - is fine, But if your after more size then you're next logical jump is to a 27" (or ultrawide depending on use) - and I personally would jump to to 1440p too.

EDIT: Micky beat me to it - but you have it in stereo now ;) And his memory advice is sound too as more and more games are utilising the extra...
