Hey all

I'm in a bit of a dilemma right now about what to do with my computer. With games like Crysis, UT3 and Bioshock, it's starting to struggle a bit, especially at 1920x1200 on my Dell 2407WFP.

I'm tempted to pick up an 8800GTS 512MB when they come out, but I'm not sure if the rest of my system (spec in sig) will hold it back too much. I've thought about doing a new build with a Q6600 but I kind of want to hold out for Penryn. Will an AMD X2 @ 2.6GHz be enough to power the GTS, and would the whole system perform ok at 1920x1200 (excluding Crysis obviously)?

I know it'll be clearer when more GTS reviews come out but I'd like to get my order in as soon as possible so I can have one for Christmas. I'll need to be quick if the 8800gt situation is anything to go by...

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely get a new card then, I just have to decide between the GTS and GTX. I'll most likely go for the GTS but I've got this nagging feeling that the GTX would be worth the extra £70 or so for gaming at 1920x1200. Anyone feel the same or would it be a waste of money?

Right, I was all settled on the GTS and then Gibbo had to go and screw everything up by getting the GTX down to £240 :p I think I'd be mad to wait for a GTS now - I'll put in my order for a GTX tomorrow or Sunday.

I don't think the GTS is faster, especially at 1920x1200 where the GTX's extra memory and wider memory bus come really come into play. Plus in this thread Gibbo is dropping hints that the new GTS will be £240ish as well - the GTX seems like a better deal to me.
