currently using [email protected] 4gb in a abit ip35-e and 5850.

I picked up a shuttle to down size these bits into when I do upgrade as it was cheap but I co wondering if now is worth it upgrading or wait some more? be for games mostly and current rig has been holding up so far will it be a big jump going to the AMD 8150 or the 3750k based system with 8gb and the 5850 or get a newer VGA now and get CPU mb in the future?

I got vast performance boost when moved from my old Q6600 at 3.6GHz to my current i5 2500K at 4.5GHz (particular on online gaming), despite being on the same old 5850 (for mmos that I play, at busy area my frame rate went from low 20s to constant 58~60fps and GPU usage is much higher than before).

The i5 3570K is faster than the i5 2500K by a fair margin (this should give you some idea), but it is also hotter as well due to how the TIM is used inside the chip. So whether you should go for i5 2500K or i5 3570K, it would probably depended on the cooling of your case, as well as how much cheaper than the i5 3570K can you source a i5 2500K.

As for Bulldozer for gaming...well, Bulldozer and gaming the two words shouldn't even belong in the same sentence, as its IPC is even slower than Phenom II.

The i5 should have a 'k' on the end, otherwise you can't overclock.

And also, just in general, don't buy bulldozer for gaming, it will just be the same, and maybe worse, than your q9550.

the cheapo motherboard allow for overclocking? or do you really need a better board?

I recall reading a review for that specific board has limited overclock due to the restricted core voltage, so the reviewer could only managed 4.4GHz max (but I don't think you would go for much higher overclock than that anyway if airflow is limited for your case).

got a decent antec p182 case but being too loud could be a deal breaker,so better board then which is a good one to in for to oc with not really bothered with sli but would be nice if it doesn't add to much cost.

cheers

maybe look at some low profile memory the Vengeance cooler fins can make fitting some coolers a bit difficult.
