Should I upgrade to a R9 290 for £115?

Could get a reference one right now, which has been used for mining but 12 other people have brought them and are fine. If I sold my HD 7850's to a trade in place I can do it for £115... If temps annoy me I can spend £70 on watercooling :)

It doesn't look dusty and he said he has cooled them well. I don't mind as he/she has said they have been used for it.

If you know they have been looked after, that is less of a gamble. I would still prefer them to help out with an RMA should it ever be needed mind but for a trade in and a £115 lay out, that doesn't seem a bad deal to me.

What I'm thinking, crossfire is annoying me so would be nice to get rid of that and more power for £115 :)

You know what is what Doogles and I am sure you will make the right decision. You could always fleabay your cards and grab a nice 290 Tri-x from here and I am guessing on you adding the same amount of money.

Brand new card with a custom quiet cooler. Summer is coming and I bet people with the ref 290's/X's will be struggling to keep the cards cool.

The mining craze certainly hasn't done anyone any favours, as now people are off loading top end GPU's all the time but this doesn't help those who want to sell GPU's like 7850's/7950's/7970's etc from looking about.

What do you think is best out of the GTX 780 and R9 290 though?

 How much better are the drivers really? That is some of the reason why I want to try nVidia.
Lots of people saying Nvidia just work without too much messing about (even though I never had problem with ATI/AMD driver myself). Most people that got driver problem are tends to be beta driver related instead of WHQL driver.

If both GTX780 and 290 were the same price and I had no preference in terms features, then I would probably have gone for a GTX780 myself; but with Nvidia insisting the GTX780 at the high price tag and at average of £50-£100 higher than the 290, I'd vote with my wallet.
