hey guys, i've been thinking of completely upgrading my system from an AMD 4000 to a Intel E6600, but i was advised that i should wait a little longer as the price of E6600 will go down soon.
I was also wondering how much performance increase i will get if do upgrade from an AMD 4000 to an Intel E6600?

I'm only interested in buying the E6600 as i do quite a lot of video encoding and editing so the 4MB will be a huge benefit, but i am also a frequent gamer so this should be ideal cpu for me.

This upgrade will be quite a bankbuster for me since not only will i have to buy a compatible motherboard for the E6600, i will also need to buy the memory for the system, but in the plus side, i can sell my old cpu along with the motherboard and memory :)

So basically i was just wondering if anyone can tell me if i should upgrade to a E6600 system now, or stick to my current build for now and wait for the price to go down.

can still play all the games on full basically!

Well actually i just bought rainbow six:las vegas on the weekend and it was pretty much sluggish :(

I have a 19" monitor and i had a difficult time playing the game at 800x600 so i had to crank up the resolution to 1024x768, but that really degraded the performance. Not to an extent where the gameplay was barely unplayable, but it does get kinda laggy when theres a lot of activity going on.
After the painful experience, thats what made me think if i should upgrade, oh well :(

you could but i think your current cpu would be worth more to sell atm

Yeah i was thinking the same. I think if i upgrade now i will be able to sell my old components at a reasoanble price, but if i upgrade later then i may have to sell my components at a lower price since they will be abit dated.
