Mornin Everyone.

Iv'e had an amd 64 FX-55 clawhammer in my pc for 2 years i think, and with all these x2 CPUS at amazing prices, would i benefit with an upgrade.

The decision won't be taken quickly as i paid over 600 quid for this chip when i origionally bought it!

My Mobo is an Asus A8N SLI-Deluxe 939, and i have a budget of about 200 quid.

But would it also be worth playing the waiting game?

I mainly use my pc for gaming and surfing.

Thanks.

You won't notice that much difference when gaming with current games, as most are single threaded. Windows will be a lot smoother though & you will be able to encode video much more quickly. If you are upgrading your OS to Windows Fista soon it will be helpful there too. :)

windows does a lovely job at spreading all the load across the 2 cores, so when they start making multi-treaded versions of games you will obviously benefit, but you might alo want to consider waiting till amd quad cores come out!!!

If your just gaming I wouldn't bother, wait until you really *need* the upgrade and you'll get a lot more bang for buck, having said that if you can get a decent price for the FX-55 prolly best to shift it sooner rather than later (as single core chips will get less and less desirable longer we go on) :p
