I am playing allot of BF2, BF2142 and CS at the moment and when playing BF2142 i don't get the smoothest of game play.

My current system is a 3500+ AMD x64, 1GB Ram, and a 6800 GFX This one

I will be adding an extra 1GB of ram to the system but was also thinking of upgrading the 6800. I have seen the HIS x1650 Pro (this one) and was wondering if i would see an improvement and would it be worth the £100.

I do not have a PCI-E board at the moment but was thinking about it maybe next year so should i just wait or perhapses upgrade the MOBO as well and get a PCI-E card??

Any help would be great.
 
i think you might be right. i do want to upgrade to a 19" monitor and i think i will do that now instead.

i watch allot of downloaded tv stuff etc do would be nice to upgrade from my 15" tft which i have had for about 5 years.
 
I heard that the 1650 Pro isn't all that special - if you were going for an AGP upgrade, you'd want either a 7600 GT or a 1950 Pro.

It would work out the same price to get a cheap PCIE mobo and the 7600 GT for PCIE, than get the AGP version!

that is true but i was wanting to go over to the core 2's and most mobos have DDR2 which i dont have so would have to also get that. i am getting to the point where i need to upgrade just about everything
 
I have the same problem, my pc is 3 years old so there just aint no point upgrading, i would pretty much have to replace everything.

What i do is buy a whole new machine every 3 years and buy a decent enough spec to keep me going for the next 3 years.

This may sound a bit daft but i get 3 years on site warranty with all my machines, and being the hardware noob that i am the suits me fine.
