ok ill probably start lots of arguments here but would it be a good idea to upgrade my Q6600 to the E8400
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-192-IN&tool=3

the reason being, i have just been on the site and noticed to price of this cpu has dropped quite a bit :) + the quicker i buy the more id get for my Quad
now the reason for asking is that at the moment at least i am 100% happy with my Quad (used mainly for gaming, bit of AVI to DVD converting.. but not much) + its the hassle of buying new hardware and fitting it and hoping it works :)

is it worth the time/money (and the decent price ill get for selling the quad)... but will i miss it :(

overclock your quad, you big girl

changing from a C2Q to a C2D with i7 around the corner is silly. In fact, changing C2Q to C2D would always be silly.

not intending to oc it

i7??? whats that?

and if i did get a new cpu, what board would be a good choise? (preferablely a P35)

i did try to oc my quad once, but then had to reset to CMOS :( this wouldn't be too bad BUT the jumper is located DIRECLY under were the PCI-e goes very hard to get to but i did it without having to remove the card :D so now i c OC'in as too much hassle LOL + i get perfection out of this CPU @ stock + the stock cooling is awful! 70'c under load! :(

i7= nehalem; new processor range and socket.
