Should i upgrade.

My current rig is as follows.

DFI Lanparty 250gb Nf3
Amd Athlon 64 - 3400+ socket 754
2 x 512MB Crucial DDR 400 RAM
200 gb SATA hard drive.
Radeon 9200 - AGP - My old GFX blew up!
Windows XP SP3
Antec 350 Watt PSU
LG 19" Flatron L1915s

Would you upgrade this rig with a budget of £250 - £300?

Or would you keep saving and replace the whole lot in 12 months?

Any upgrade idea's?

Im trying to work out what to do? am i wasting money by upgrading? And if not can anyone recomend what to buy so i can get into some new games.

It depends what you use your computer for? If it does all that you currently ask of it with out any issues, then i wouldn't.

If it's for general internet and light apps use then above rig will be fine - you could may be find another gig of memory.

If you're a gamer, or into photoshop or you find your computer struggling etc then a £300 would see a very significant upgarde:

MB (AM3 ~£70)
CPU (AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition ~£90)
memory 4 gig (~£60)
gfx (4870 ~£90)

Total - £310

I think Plec has given you a good answer. If you keep the machine another GB of RAM would be a good idea but his suggestion for an upgrade would be pretty sweet. Your older model 350W PSU might struggle with a 4870 though....

Would be my choice as well but I would wait for the new ati gfx or pick up a 4770 so you dont need to up your psu

I'd save up for a few months. Then you can get a better and more future proof upgrade.
