I currently use a Dell S2409W which is 1920x1080. Would I benefit much from getting one that is 1920x1200? I'm starting to watch more HD now than I did before but not sure if it's worth the upgrade, I also play quite a lot of games.

For watching movies and TV shows you wouldn't get any benefit (unless you went for an even bigger screen) as a 1920x1200 screen is taller and less wide (16:10 instead of 16:9). All HD TV is 16:9 and movies are usually this wide or wider - therefore - going for a taller monitor will only mean bigger black lines at the top and bottom of the image.

For games, I find the extra resolution and height nice. However, it does put more strain on your graphics card (so lower frame rates) and obviously the monitor is not as wide.

The main benefit of a 1920x1200 monitor I find is using the Web and office applications. The extra height means you can display more of a web page at once (most web pages don't use widescreen monitors very well - so vertical resolution is key) and view two A4 word processing pages side-by-side.

Also, 1920x1200 has moved from the mainstream and has almost entirely been replaced by 1920x1080 (16:9). This means most 1920x1200 monitors currently available are mid/high-end monitors which come with large price tags and features you may not need.
